We are pleased to announce our School Holiday Programme for end of Term 2. Our programme is open to all students 12 years or older. We have 2 weeks of 2 different days theses which meet each week for the entirety of term 2. Week 1 is Special Effects Makeup and Week 2 Prop Building to help your child understand the processes and techniques needed to work in a relavent creative industry.
We are pleased to announce our Home School Term 3 Programme. Our programme is open to all students 12 years or older. Each week we will run our special effects makeup classes on Wednesdays, and our prop building classes on Thursdays. Students will learn a variety of skills in each class and helps them understand the roles and responsibilies of makeup artists, and prop builders for the movie and television industry.
Our Skilltree half-mask course in McKinney Texas is a 3 day event which covers sculpting, molding, and finishes with a painting demo. These techniques are used by some of the industries top talent. The half mask created over the course of the workshop will allow you to create your own creation, use the materials and tools needed to display the mask and a painting demo which goes over techniques to make believable and interesting characters.
In these weekly workshops we will cover a large number of concepts and skills required to begin making your own electronic circuits and microcontroller based projects. This is ideally suited for anyone keen on starting out or developing existing skills in making electronic devices.
Each week we will cover game development topics from pixel art, prop building, scripting, level design, and game engines, and many more. Each 3 hour session will provide practical and theoretical game development discussions and how those theories and practices have shaped games. The practical classes will teach skills that are used in the game industry from a game development veteran with over 21 years of experience in the industry.
Come learn about painting in a variety of mediums and different subject matters with our traditional art mentor. Each week we will cover a different subject matter, technique, or medium to help expand your painting abilities, or to explore a new avenue for your art to grow. The painting classes will cover both theory and practical application of technique and is taught by Melanie FerDon, whose work is exhibited in private and corporate collections in the USA, Europe, and New Zealand.
Each Friday Mel will be teaching classes such as life drawing, still life, anatomy and other drawing skills needed to improve your mastery of drawing, drafting and rendering techniques. Each week we will work using drawing tools and techniques including life drawing, still life, anatomy, and other practical hands on learning for becoming a better artist.
Come on in to Skilltree where we will have a casual sculpting session. Pre-registration required for materials, but you can pay on the day. The relaxed studio setting and informal instructional style will give you lots of time to experiment and produce great take-home pieces.

Mike brings 20 years of game development, 6 years of tertiary education, and over 20 years of management experience to Skilltree. Mike is passionate about games, movies, special effects make-up, digital and practical effects for movies. He is also a traditional artist who enjoys painting and sculpting.
Simon the Creative Technical Director brings his 20 years of business management experience and operating successful, creative oriented businesses in New Zealand to SkillTree. His passions are digital music production, musical instrument design and performance along with a lifetime experience tinkering, inventing and producing electronic gadgets and software applications.
Kim has worked in Hollywood since 1991 on television shows such as Attack of the Show, Talk Soup, E! True Hollywood Stories and many others. His expertise in visual effects, producing, sound and music editing are the strengths he brings to his teaching practice. Kim has worked in games, television, and film, is a print author and university lecturer. His student intern programme has had over 700 students who have helped shape Hollywood history on the big and small screen.
